The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, totaling ₦606,991,849,118, for the services of the state government for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025.
The approval was granted during today’s plenary session, a few weeks after Governor Chukwuma Soludo presented the budget to the House.
The passage followed the adoption of the report presented by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation. The committee’s chairman, Sir Ejike Okechukwu, representing Anaocha Constituency Two, confirmed that the budget size remained unchanged from the governor’s initial proposal.
He detailed that capital expenditure accounts for ₦467,473,201,837, representing 77% of the budget, while recurrent expenditure is ₦139,507,955,604, making up 23%. He further explained that the committee conducted bilateral discussions with the heads of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to review and align the budget with their needs. Adjustments made during the review were incorporated under the respective budget heads.
Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, hailed the passage of the budget as a significant achievement for Anambra State. He highlighted it as evidence of the collaborative synergy between the legislature and the executive.
Commending the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, the Speaker applauded their diligence in scrutinizing the budget and presenting actionable recommendations that received broad support from the lawmakers.
