Anambra State joined the global community on October 2nd to mark the 2024 World Oxygen Day, an event aimed at raising awareness about the essential role of oxygen in human life and the importance of oxygen therapy for individuals with respiratory conditions.
World Oxygen Day is celebrated annually to highlight the critical need for oxygen, which is fundamental to sustaining life on Earth. The day also serves to promote the use of oxygen therapy, especially for patients suffering from respiratory issues.
During a road sensitization campaign held to mark the event, the Managing Director of the Anambra State Medical Oxygen Plant, Mrs. Nwamaka Arinze, praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his continuous support. She noted that the state had received 200 oxygen cylinders from the government, with an additional 300 cylinders on the way. Mrs. Arinze also lauded the Governor’s initiative to provide free oxygen as part of the state’s free antenatal and delivery services for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
She further advised medical practitioners to handle oxygen equipment carefully, emphasizing that oxygen masks are not reusable and urging them to properly monitor oxygen regulators.
This year’s World Oxygen Day was celebrated under the theme “Breathe Better, Walk Together.”
