The Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Mr. Julius Chukwuemeka, has underscored the critical role of effective communication in implementing government projects. This statement came as the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) team paid a courtesy visit to his office in Awka.
Mr. Chukwuemeka highlighted the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with ABS to keep Anambra residents updated on Governor Soludo’s achievements and forthcoming projects aimed at enhancing their welfare. He noted that enhanced outreach by ABS would ensure citizens are well-informed about the governor’s efforts, preventing misattribution of impactful projects. “Without effective communication, even the most significant projects can be claimed by others as their own,” the commissioner emphasized.
In reviewing recent achievements, Mr. Chukwuemeka discussed the ministry’s solar-powered streetlight initiative across Anambra, explaining that the cost of maintaining diesel-powered streetlights could otherwise fund essential infrastructure, such as road construction. By transitioning to solar energy, the state is reducing costs and embracing eco-friendly solutions, aligning with Governor Soludo’s vision for a livable and prosperous Anambra.
The commissioner also reiterated the ministry’s commitment to using renewable energy as the primary power source for state water projects. He emphasized that the ministry’s project execution is guided by the ISE principle—Impact, Sustainability, and Eco-friendliness—ensuring projects provide public benefit, promote long-term viability, and reduce environmental harm.
Anambra’s leadership in solar street lighting, Mr. Chukwuemeka noted, has inspired similar efforts by individuals, markets, and other states. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and called for continued efforts to position Anambra as a model for sustainable development.
On his part, ABS Managing Director, Mr. Chris Molokwu, praised Governor Soludo’s numerous initiatives, including the water supply projects through the ministry. He commended the ministry’s achievements under the commissioner and expressed ABS’s willingness to partner in promoting government accomplishments to the public.
Mr. Molokwu also outlined ABS’s operational needs, including installing solar systems at key offices, upgrading the Enugwu Ukwu transmission station, and acquiring a backup generator to enhance their service reliability.
Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Sir Victor Ezekwo; Director of News, Mrs. Judy Jeff Nwabueze; Director of Commercial Services, Mrs. Uju Ifediba; and News Editors, Mr. Abuchi Nwozo and Mrs. Ngozi Obileri.
