The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has called on residents of various communities across the state to prioritize peaceful coexistence, emphasizing its importance for meaningful progress and development.
Dr. Ibezim made the appeal while addressing members of the Mbaukwu community during their general meeting held at the town hall. He stressed that peace is essential for societal growth, urging community members to embrace tolerance and work collectively for the benefit of all.
The Deputy Governor, a notable figure in Mbaukwu, highlighted that his contributions to the community are aimed at fostering its development. He encouraged residents to take an active role in making their town a model for others.
During the meeting, Dr. Ibezim praised the behavior of the attendees, particularly their endorsement of the town’s 2024 constitution, which he believes will promote fairness, equality, and equitable distribution of resources. He also urged the community to participate in the upcoming local elections scheduled for Saturday.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Mbaukwu Peace Committee, Barrister Chike Onyali, commended the community for their support and expressed confidence that the new constitution would benefit everyone. He assured them that the provisions of the document were designed to serve the collective interest.
Similarly, Prince Onyekachukwu Ebede, a prominent stakeholder, described the adoption of the new constitution as a landmark achievement for Mbaukwu. He encouraged residents to turn out and vote in the election for the sake of lasting peace.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mbaukwu residents unanimously adopted the new constitution through a voice vote, setting the stage for the community’s forthcoming election.
