The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Chukwuma Okoye, has spread Christmas cheer by distributing bags of rice and cash to over 1,000 residents of Awka South Local Government Area. The beneficiaries included widows, the less privileged, and members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from Awka South I and II State Constituencies.
The event, held in Amawbia, witnessed the participation of 20 ward chairmen, Local Government Working Committee members, and APGA ward executives. The largesse also marked the conclusion of the 2024 batch of Hon. Okoye’s monthly salary scheme, which supported 22 individuals from the two constituencies. He announced plans to enroll a new set of beneficiaries in 2025.
In his speech, Hon. Okoye explained that the scheme, initiated in 2023, aims to uplift the needy and transform lives in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Solution Agenda. He also highlighted other developmental projects he has undertaken in his constituency to further support the administration’s goals.
Prince Chinedu Okafor, the Mayor of Awka South, and Barrister Lawrence Ezeudu, APGA Chairman for the Local Government Area, commended Hon. Okoye for prioritizing the welfare of his constituents and demonstrating exemplary leadership.
Expressing their gratitude, some beneficiaries, including Mrs. Chiwoke Nweke and Mr. Izuchukwu Okoye, praised the lawmaker for his life-changing interventions, stating that his initiatives have brought significant relief to their families.
The event reinforced Hon. Okoye’s commitment to his constituents’ welfare as the festive season approaches.
