In a bid to foster healthy aquatic ecosystem and curb contamination of water bodies, Anambra State ministry of Environment begins river bank sanitation exercise
Anambra state commissioner for Environment Engr. Dr. Felix Odimegwu disclosed this during the exercise, where he stated that the riverbank Sanitation exercise is very crucial for the overall wellbeing of the aquatic Environment and water bodies, He stated that the Ecosystem support, human activities, recreation and tourism provided by the aquatic environment is too enormous to be undermined
Dr Odimegwu also admonished the community and tourists to desist from dumping plastics, wastes of all kinds and defeacating in the river areas, stating that these plastics do not decay rather our fishes eats them, which makes them toxic and unhealthy for human consumption. He concluded that this clean up exercise will not only maintain a clean, green and sustainable Anambra but a homeland where we can live, work and enjoy life
