In response to escalating security concerns, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has committed to tackling kidnapping, cult-related killings, armed robbery, and other criminal activities in the state. During its 33rd meeting held on October 29, 2024, the council outlined an aggressive strategy to restore peace and security.
As part of the security overhaul, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo appointed Kenneth Okwuchukwu Emeakayi as the new Special Adviser on Community Security, a move aimed at enhancing community-driven security initiatives to curb crime.
**Key Infrastructure Projects Approved**
In addition to the security resolutions, the ANSEC approved several major infrastructure projects designed to boost development across Anambra:
– **Dualization and Construction of Nwagu Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi Road:** Spanning 18.6 kilometers, this project was awarded to Lebtech Constructions Ltd at a cost of ₦33.557 billion, with a projected completion timeline of 12 months.
– **Dualization and Construction of Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija Road:** Covering 16.51 kilometers, the project was awarded to Ferotex Construction Company at ₦30.918 billion, with an 18-month completion timeline.
– **Light of the Nation Tower and Fountain:** An iconic landmark tower will be constructed in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, by IDC Construction Ltd for ₦980 million, with completion expected within 4 months.
– **Supply and Installation of Medical Equipment:** The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital will receive critical medical equipment under a contract awarded to De Jotlims Medical Ltd for ₦236.371 million, with a 2-month timeline.
These infrastructure projects are expected to improve the standard of living, enhance medical facilities, and increase connectivity across the state. Governor Soludo affirmed that these initiatives represent a crucial step towards a safer and more prosperous Anambra.
