The Anambra State Chapter of the Real Estate Developers Association has strongly refuted claims by Chinwe Splendour alleging that 95% of female realtors in the state engage in sexual activities with chief executive officers of real estate companies to succeed in the industry. The association labeled these accusations as false and misleading.
Ms. Splendour made the contentious claim in a now-viral podcast video.
Acting Chairman of the chapter, Mr. Martin Nwafor, dismissed the allegations as a sabotage of efforts to transform the real estate sector into a multi-billion-dollar industry. He emphasized that these statements cast unwarranted aspersions on the hard work of hundreds of association members in the state.
Mr. Nwafor clarified that Ms. Splendour is not a registered realtor in Anambra and declared that her claims would not be overlooked. The association has issued Ms. Splendour a 24-hour ultimatum to publish a public apology and retraction in a national daily, and to take down the video, failing which she will face legal action.
Another real estate developer, Mr. Gabriel Chukwuwendu, criticized the misuse of social media to tarnish the reputations of individuals and organizations without facing consequences. He lamented that the efforts of realtors to attract investors could be undone by a reckless 60-minute rant and called for government intervention to address rampant defamation on social media.
Stanley Anowai, another real estate developer, cautioned youths about the implications of their actions, highlighting that the law does not condone any form of indiscipline. He advocated for censorship of podcasts to prevent individuals from inciting unrest and causing harm in the country.
