Awka, Nigeria – June 4, 2025: The Anambra State Government has issued a formal denial of viral social media claims alleging that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, consulted a native doctor in relation to his reelection bid. Officials have described the reports as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
According to a statement released by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the video being circulated online has been grossly misrepresented. The clip was recorded during a recent official meeting between the state government and content creators from Anambra, not a spiritual consultation.
The event, facilitated by the Governor’s Special Senior Assistant on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, was designed to foster collaboration with the creative sector as part of Soludo’s ongoing support for the creative economy. During the interactive session, content creators showcased various talents, including a comedy skit where one performer acted as a native doctor—a popular genre in Nigerian entertainment.
“The skit was part of a creative presentation, not a consultation,” the statement clarified, calling out political opponents and critics for what it described as a calculated distortion aimed at tarnishing the Governor’s reputation.
The government emphasized that Governor Soludo’s administration remains focused on economic development, particularly through investments in creative and recreational infrastructure. A notable example cited is the recently launched SOLUTION FUN CITY project, which supports the state’s broader economic diversification strategy.
Reiterating the Governor’s confidence in his reelection prospects, the statement declared that Soludo depends on the support of Ndi Anambra and his ongoing performance under the SOLUTION AGENDA, not any form of spiritual consultation.
The government urged the public, media outlets, and social media users to disregard the misinformation and to verify content before sharing. It further called on political actors to engage in honest debate rather than resorting to disinformation.
Governor Soludo, the statement concluded, remains committed to the transformation and development of Anambra State and will not be distracted by the tactics of political adversaries.
