Anambra Government Partners with Descendants Fortune Investments to Launch “Anambra Christmas Village 2024

In anticipation of the festive season, the Anambra State Government, in collaboration with Descendants Fortune Investments Limited, has officially launched the “Anambra Christmas Village 2024.”

The unveiling ceremony took place at the International Convention Center, Awka, and was attended by prominent figures including the Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment, Mr. Don Onyenji, and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, along with representatives of Descendants Fortune Investments Limited.

During the event, Commissioner Onyenji emphasized that the Anambra State Executive Council had approved the establishment of the Christmas Village as part of Governor Soludo’s vision to transform the state into a major tourist destination. The village will complement the upcoming Solution Fun City and other leisure centers across the state, providing an array of attractions for residents and visitors alike.

Commissioner Udechukwu also encouraged the people of Anambra (Ndi Anambra) to return home during the holiday season to partake in the village’s activities and boost local tourism.

Prince Iyke Okafor, CEO of Descendants Fortune Investments Limited, highlighted the importance of the “Aku luo uno” (wealth should return home) philosophy, urging Ndi Anambra to invest in the state’s development rather than focusing solely on external ventures.

The Programme Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Owuala, provided further insight into the objectives of the “Anambra Christmas Village 2024,” stating that the initiative aims to foster social cohesion, celebrate cultural heritage, and strengthen governance and community participation. He added that local investments would greatly support the administration’s goals under Governor Soludo.

The event concluded with the unveiling of the Christmas Village logo, with Victor Nsube announced as the winner of the logo design competition.
