The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing facilities at the Chinua Achebe International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri, to improve safety, standards, and overall services.
During a recent visit to the airport, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, highlighted ongoing efforts to upgrade the airport’s infrastructure. He was warmly received by the Managing Director of the airport, Mr. Martin Nwafor.
While welcoming the Commissioner and his team, Mr. Nwafor noted that the airport, which commenced operations in December 2021, is equipped with state-of-the-art firefighting trucks and a 3.5-kilometer runway capable of accommodating aircraft of all sizes.
Dr. Mefor commended the management team for their dedication to maintaining efficiency despite existing challenges. He emphasized the significance of ongoing projects, including the construction of a VIP lounge and the installation of night landing facilities, describing them as crucial to unlocking the state’s investment potential.
The Commissioner also pledged his support for the upcoming Airport Trade Fair, slated for December 7, which is expected to showcase the airport’s potential and attract business opportunities to Anambra State.
