To boost the success of the upcoming third round of the Big Catch Up vaccination exercise, the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency has held a one-day planning and stakeholders’ meeting in Awka.
The meeting brought together key partners including representatives from civil society organisations, the National Orientation Agency, and ministries of Education, Information, and Women Affairs, alongside the Red Cross Society and Social Mobilisation Officers from various local government areas.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Agency, Dr Nnamdi Uliagbafusi, said the forum provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on previous rounds, share experiences, identify challenges, and explore better strategies for implementation. He urged participants to improve on their past efforts as the third round of the vaccination exercise is scheduled to begin on April 22, 2025.
Also speaking, UNICEF’s Dr Uju Eze and the World Health Organization’s Mr Ndubuisi Oji commended the agency and local mobilisers for their dedication. They emphasised the importance of reaching every child in the target areas during this round.
The Big Catch Up vaccination aims to immunise children who missed previous rounds in nine selected local government areas: Aguata, Anaocha, Ayamelum, Idemili North, Nnewi North, Orumba North, and Orumba South.
