The Anambra State Information Commissioner, Dr. Law Mefor, paid a visit to the Anambra State Printing Press to assess its current state and explore ways to enhance its functionality and efficiency. The visit focused on evaluating the potential of the facility and discussing upgrades that could modernize its operations.
Dr. Mefor emphasized the need for integrating digital technologies, including direct image production, to ensure the printing press remains competitive and productive. He stressed that such modernization efforts are vital for determining the long-term viability of the press.
“Printing can be a viable revenue source when planned effectively. If you excel in your craft, people will seek you out, regardless of your location,” Dr. Mefor remarked, underscoring the importance of innovation in the printing industry.
During the tour, Mr. Obuzo Emeka Chris, Managing Director of Anambra Printing Press, expressed his gratitude for the commissioner’s visit. He guided Dr. Mefor through the facility, pointing out several non-functional machines. Mr. Chris appealed to the state government for urgent overhauling and maintenance of outdated equipment, highlighting the need for investment to restore the facility’s full operational capacity.
The visit signals the state’s commitment to reviving the printing press as a viable source of revenue, with modernization as a key priority.
