The Anambra State Ministry of Information is set to transition from basic information dissemination to strategic communication, focusing on reputation and perception management for Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the state government.
The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, disclosed this while defending the ministry’s 2025 budget before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Information during a budget defense and bilateral discussion.
Dr. Mefor, who appeared alongside representatives from the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Information Communication Technology Agency (ICT), and Anambra State Signage Agency (ANSAA), revealed that the ministry’s proposed 2025 budget is slightly over five billion naira.
“We are committed to projecting the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, ensuring that his vision and the government’s journey are well understood by Ndi Anambra. This will help us receive constructive feedback to refine government policies where necessary,” he stated.
The Commissioner emphasized the ministry’s role as a bridge between the government and the people, promising to revive community-based communication strategies, including town criers and hall meetings with stakeholders. He also lauded the media for their balanced reporting, which he described as pivotal in achieving the ministry’s goals.
Additionally, Dr. Mefor pledged to strengthen collaboration with the legislative arm to enhance public awareness of Governor Soludo’s achievements and promote good governance.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Fred Ezenwa, commended the ministry’s vision and assured the Assembly’s support in ensuring the 2025 budget achieves its objectives.
This initiative underscores the ministry’s dedication to fostering effective communication between the government and the people while enhancing transparency and accountability.
