The Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) party, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR., has stated that Anambra is the home of APGA and therefore declared it an APGA land.
Soludo made the declaration earlier today at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, during the APGA mega rally to flag off campaigns for the upcoming Local Government election scheduled to hold next week Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Said he, “It is evident that APGA is Anambra and Anambra is APGA. Anambra is 85/90 per cent APGA. APGA remains in tact and one united, indivisible, strong political party under the chairmanship of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa.
” The conduct of the local government election is a promise made and promise kept, even though many did not believe during the campaigns. Since 1998, we’ve had two Local Government elections. First was in 1998, and the second was in 2014, during the last lap of the tenure of the then Governor Obi. We are going to organize another election this month. We planned to do it in December but the Supreme court judgement happened and that is why we brought it forward”, he informed.
Speaking, the National Chairman of APGA, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa congratulated the chairmanship and councillorship candidates in advance while emphasizing that Anambra is completely APGA.
He encouraged the party faithful to go out and campaign for the party and candidates because according to him, the party and candidates will not only win twenty-one over twenty-one of the council chairmanship positions but will sweep the enter 326 wards.
The late supreme leader of APGA, Dim Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu’s widow and former Ambassador of Nigeria to Spain, Her Excellency, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu while congratulating the candidates urged them to remember to carry their supporters along when they win
She pointed out that APGA winning the election was not in doubt as Anambra is home to the party but that winners must ensure they do not abandone people who toiled to deliver them in their various polling units and wards.
Anambra’s former House of Assembly Deputy Speaker and present House of Representatives member, Ihiala Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr Paschal Agbodike informed that Anambra has only one party and that is APGA.
Agbodike stated that APGA under Governor Soludo as national leader and Sly Ezeokenwa the national chairman is indefatigable and a party to beat always.
Former National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Victor Oye, Hon. Chief Dozie Nwankwo (Former House of Representatives Member, Njikoka/Dunukofia/Anaocha Federal Constituency), Rt. Hon. Chuma Okoye, Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly and Hon. Chief Chinedu Obidigwe (Former House of Representatives member, Anambra East/West Federal Constituency) in their separate speeches stated that APGA party has no rival in the state.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, APGA BoT members, Exco members, Federal and State Legislators, party faithfull and others attended the event.
Highpoints of the events were giving of party flags to twenty one Local Government Council chairmanship candidates by the state Chairman of APGA, Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, musical displays by various Local government areas and others.
