Anambra State government through the Ministry of Transport today, at the HOS Hall, Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka launched a comprehensive security app and emergency solution called the iRESCUE Auto-Towing emergency response services.
The commissioner for Transport, Barrister Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike who was represented at the launch by Chief Engr. Michael Obiekwe, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport congratulated the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and the Commissioner for the success of the event. He praised them for a job well done by bringing the project to Anambra state and informed that the iRESCUE was an app that offers all inclusive services.
Engr. Obiekwe stated that the Police, fire service, ARTMA, FRSC, OCHAbrigade and others have a part to play in the effective use of the app by teaching their members on how to use it.
He said the ministry was ready to partner the irescue team in carrying out their work in the state. That they will help in publicising the app by pasting the stickers at the back of tricycles popularly called keke and engaging drivers on the importance of irescue app and other ndi Anambra and residents.
The co-founder of iRESCUE auto-towing and emergency response services, Mr Joseph Nelson said, “Today, we brought irescue to Anambra. We are bringing security to you. We are bringing safety to you. We are bringing content to you. With our app, you are sure that your car will be delivered to your doorstep.”
” Any user using the app has optimum security. Our app has facial recognition service. The app collects primary details of the person. Irescue headquarters is in Abuja. We decided to come to Anambra because we have seen the good works of the Governor. He has opened the state up.”
” This app helps solve emergency problems. Instead of cracking your head to know how to reach police in an emergency situation, irescue connects you to security, towing van services, fire service and any other emergency service you may need just from the comfort of your home. If you don’t have a smart phone, we have a number with which the person can access emergency services”, he said.
Comrade Agbafune Anthony Onyekwelu, Deputy MD of OCHABrigade who represented the MD/CEO, Chief Celestine Anere, stated that the agency was ubiquitous with its command and control centre located at Agu Awka and maintain offices in the 21 LGAs of the state. He pledged his Agency’s readiness to partner iRESCUE in maintaining environmental cleanliness.
On his part, Chris Okeke, Head, Transport Operations in the Ministry pointed out that the launch was in line with Mr Governor’s mantra of technology everywhere in the State and everything technology.
He stated that it would enhance and further develop the business of towing in the State thereby making them earn more income as well as professionalising or formalising the sector.
Highpoints of the occasion were the presentation of appointment letter to the iRESCUE co-founder, Mr Nelson Joseph and taking of group photographs.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ARTMA, Engr Emeka Konti Okonkwo, representatives of Fire Service, FRSC, Police and others attended the event.
