Hon. Patrick Obalum-Udoba, representing Anambra West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his initiative of distributing over two million economic trees and seedlings to Ndi Anambra since taking office.
Speaking at his Umueze Anam country home, Hon. Obalum-Udoba highlighted that Governor Soludo’s actions are pivotal for alleviating poverty and promoting economic prosperity in the state. He emphasized the potential for achieving zero poverty in the near future through this initiative.
Hon. Obalum-Udoba urged Ndi Anambra to embrace this opportunity and shift their focus towards agriculture, which was Nigeria’s primary economic activity before the discovery of crude oil. He noted that last year, Governor Soludo distributed over one million palm and coconut trees, along with various other seedlings, including palm, ukwa, akilu, oji Igbo, and pawpaw. This distribution, he said, aims to protect the state’s green ecosystem and combat gully erosion.
As the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Obalum-Udoba stressed the importance of sustaining the current administration’s agro-economic initiatives. He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the Governor’s new programs and policies to become self-reliant and job creators.
He assured that the Anambra State House of Assembly will continue to collaborate with the State Executive Council to ensure that the benefits of democracy reach all citizens, particularly those in rural areas. Hon. Obalum-Udoba reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Ndi Anambra West and promoting participatory democracy.
