In a significant step towards improving public health and sanitation, Honourable Tony Muobike, representing Aguata Two constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has commissioned a new toilet facility at Community Secondary School, Agulu-Ezechukwu. The initiative aims to address the health risks associated with open defecation.
The event saw the unveiling of an eight-room water cistern convenience, attended by teachers, students, parents, members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), and the local community.
Honourable Muobike highlighted that this project fulfills his campaign promise to meet the needs of his constituents. He expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the facility, emphasizing the health dangers posed by the lack of proper sanitation in school environments.
Speaking on the occasion, Muobike, who also chairs the House Committee on Health, pledged to bring the issues of lack of fencing and gully erosion at the school to the attention of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. He reiterated his commitment to follow the governor’s example of impactful leadership.
Dr. Chibueze Oforbuike, Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, praised Muobike’s dedication and alignment with Governor Soludo’s social welfare initiatives. He urged the school principal to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility, criticizing the prevalent lack of maintenance culture.
Mrs. Stella-Maris Okoye, the school principal, thanked Honourable Muobike for swiftly addressing the school’s sanitation needs and prayed for his continued success.
Community leaders, including Chief Ejike Okoli, Mr. Harold Obianika, and Mr. Joseph Izundu, also lauded the lawmaker for his contributions to the constituency, highlighting his tangible impact on their lives.
The event concluded with the official commissioning of the facility and a welcome song by the students, marking a day of communal achievement and progress.
