Awka, Anambra State – In a solemn ceremony today, Anambra State joined the nation to honor the memories of its fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day. The event served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by men and women who paid the ultimate price in defense of Nigeria’s freedom and security.
Governor Charles Soludo, speaking at the commemoration, paid tribute to members of the armed forces and the Anambra State Vigilante group, acknowledging their valor and dedication. “We remember the brave men and women who have served our nation with distinction and those who continue to serve with unrelenting dedication,” he said, emphasizing the pain and sacrifices endured by families of the fallen.
The governor highlighted the pressing security challenges facing the state, noting the threats posed by insecurity to peace, stability, and prosperity. He reassured citizens of ongoing efforts to combat these challenges through a comprehensive security strategy encompassing community policing, intelligence gathering, and rapid response measures.
“Anambra is implementing robust measures to create a secure environment where people can live and pursue their livelihoods without fear,” Soludo stated, calling for public cooperation with security agencies. “They are our friends and allies in the quest for peace and security.”
The governor also expressed gratitude to the families of fallen heroes, vowing continued support and commitment to ensuring their sacrifices were not in vain.
As the state remembered its fallen heroes, Soludo urged citizens to embody the values of courage, sacrifice, loyalty, and patriotism, stressing the need to work collectively towards a peaceful and prosperous future.
