The Association of Motor Dealers in Anambra State has held its third annual workshop, emphasizing collaboration with government authorities to safeguard the interests of car dealers and curb vehicle theft across the state.

Addressing participants at the event, the Chairman of the association, Dr. Okenwa Bosah, restated the group’s commitment to ensuring that members comply with due process in all business transactions. He said the workshop, themed “Due Diligence: A Fight Against Car Theft in Anambra State,” was designed to sensitize members on the importance of integrity and lawful practices.

The Secretary of the association, Mr. Nzubechukwu Obiorah, noted that the leadership of AMDAS remains dedicated to protecting its members and fostering a conducive business environment for motor dealers in Anambra State. He urged dealers who are yet to register with the association to do so in order to benefit from its activities and support system.

In a paper presented at the workshop, the association’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Petermaximus, advised members to always conduct comprehensive verification before concluding any transaction, stressing that proper due diligence would help prevent theft-related issues.

Several dignitaries who attended the workshop cautioned motor dealers against carelessness and greed, identifying them as major factors behind post-sale disputes and challenges in the sector. Among them were the Commissioner for Transport, Barrister Patricia Igwebuike, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, Mr. Jerry Alocha; the Commissioner for Trade, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, represented by the State Director of Markets, Mr. Frank Iloduba; the Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Bridgette Asekhauno; and the Head of Vehicle Inspection Services at the Ministry of Transport, Engineer MacDonald Achuam.
