Anambra Police Commissioner Engages Njikoka Community Leaders in Security Strengthening Efforts

To enhance community security in Anambra State, Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, took his security advocacy tour to Njikoka Local Government Area, emphasizing collaboration among local leaders, residents, and law enforcement. As part of his 21-local government outreach, CP Itam paid a courtesy visit to HRH Obi Sir Patrick Mabamalu Okeke, the Igwe of Abagana, and met with community stakeholders, including Local Government Chairman Hon. Chinedu Donminc Ononibu, President Generals of local communities, and vigilante representatives.

CP Itam highlighted the importance of community policing, calling for open, patriotic engagement to address security challenges and enhance public safety. He urged the residents to unite with the police to “take back our space” from criminal elements that disrupt local businesses and instill fear across the state.

Local Government Chairman Hon. Ononibu expressed his commitment to supporting security efforts in the area, promising sustained security advocacy for residents. Other key attendees included the Deputy Chairman Iyom Fidelia, traditional rulers, executive council members, PCRC representatives, and local vigilante groups.

During his visit to Igwe Okeke, CP Itam encouraged the traditional leader to foster a communication channel within the community to bolster security awareness and promote peace. The Commissioner reiterated the importance of condemning actions that threaten societal stability.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, commended the stakeholders’ involvement, noting that such collaborative efforts are crucial for lasting peace and security in the region.
