Anambra State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has commenced an extensive security assessment and advocacy campaign against the sit-at-home order across all 21 local government areas in the state. The initiative kicked off on November 4, 2024, with a visit to Awka South Local Government Area Council.
During the visit, CP Itam addressed community leaders, including executive council members, traditional rulers, and youth leaders, urging them to collaborate with the police to enhance security through community vigilance. He encouraged residents to adopt sustainable policing practices and to report any suspicious activity to the police through the Command’s emergency number, 07039194332, for swift response.
CP Itam also discussed recent security incidents, including the recent killings in Nibo and Ifite, noting that suspects have been identified and that the Command is actively pursuing leads in the case.
Hon. Prince Chinedu Okafor, the Awka South Council Chairman, speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, assured the Commissioner of their support in enhancing public safety in the state.
The anti-sit-at-home patrol led by CP Itam extended to several divisions, including Ogidi, Obosi, Okpoko, Harbour, and Awada Divisional Headquarters, as part of efforts to improve security presence across Anambra.
