As part of the Save School Initiative, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikioye Orutugu, visited Igwebuike Grammar School and St. Patrick’s College in Awka to assure students of their safety.
During the visit, CP Orutugu emphasized that peace had been restored in the state under his watch and Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration. He acknowledged past security concerns but reassured students of maximum protection.
He declared that the era of sit-at-home orders and market closures was over, urging students to reject violence and report suspicious activities. He warned against drug abuse and cultism, stressing that violence often stems from such influences.
Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, who joined the visit, praised CP Orutugu’s efforts and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to securing the future of Anambra children.
The School Prefect of Igwebuike Grammar School, Augustine Nweke, expressed gratitude for the visit and pledged to apply the lessons shared by the police commissioner for the benefit of the school and society.
