Anambra State emerged as a standout performer at the prestigious 2024 Presidential Prizes for Secondary Schools in Nigeria, held yesterday to celebrate exceptional achievements in education across the country.
Leading the accolades, Joseph Afamefuna Nwosu of Government Technical College, Osomala, Ogbaru LGA, Anambra, was awarded the coveted title of Overall Best Teacher. Nwosu’s excellence was recognized with a brand-new Hyundai Accent as his STAR prize, alongside the honor of being named the top teacher in the Federal Government’s list.
Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia, Aguata LGA, Anambra, claimed the title of Second Best Secondary School, thanks to its stellar academic performance and commitment to student success.
In the primary education category, Chukwudumeme Franca Adaeze of Aforigwe Primary School, Umudioka, Dunukofia LGA, was honored as Second Best Primary Head Teacher for her remarkable contributions to her school and her role in fostering a love for learning among her students.
Dr. Grace Amara Umezinwa, principal of Girls High School, Uga, Aguata LGA, received recognition as the Second Best Secondary School Principal. Her leadership has been instrumental in the academic and personal development of her students.
Anambra’s teachers also secured second place in the March Past competition, which featured participants from 37 states and Federal Education parastatals.
These awards are a testament to the significant educational reforms introduced by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, underscoring Anambra’s commitment to excellence in education.
