The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has expressed his support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s stance on local government autonomy and other related matters, stating that they align with the mandates of both the judiciary and legislature, as well as the shared responsibilities between state and local governments.

Speaking after Governor Soludo’s recent broadcast on the issue, Udeze highlighted that the governor’s approach is consistent with constitutional provisions. He emphasized that the signing of the Anambra State Economic Planning and Development Bill, 2024, and the Anambra State Local Government Administration Bill, 2024, into law is in the best interest of the people.

The Speaker praised state lawmakers for their diligence in enacting the new laws, noting that the Local Government Administration Law and the Economic Planning and Development Law will foster development in local council areas and improve the quality of life for rural residents.

He urged the people of Anambra not to be swayed by misinformation about the new Local Government Administration Law, assuring them that the state legislature will work to ensure they benefit fully from its provisions.
