Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, has urged women to take a proactive role in societal reforms during this year’s August meeting. She emphasized the need for women to develop and implement programs aimed at addressing moral decay and social vices in the community.
Expressing concern over the increasing levels of moral decadence and social vices, Commissioner Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche highlighted the pivotal role women can play in driving social and value reorientation. She encouraged women to prioritize these issues during their discussions at the August meeting.
In her message to Anambra women, the Commissioner wished them fruitful deliberations and urged them to use the occasion to raise awareness about child rights and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law. She stressed the importance of collective action by women, particularly in addressing the issue of violence against children, many of whom are employed as housemaids.
Commissioner Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche also recalled that Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State Governor and Founder of Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo, had previously urged women to use the August meeting to empower each other with skills to achieve self-reliance. She noted that this empowerment is crucial, especially during the current economic challenges.
In addition, the Commissioner underscored the importance of adopting Mrs. Soludo’s calls for healthy living, which she said would help women manage the demands of homemaking effectively.
