The Anambra State Government, through its Ministry of Health, has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to conduct a three-day review of the 2023 first quarter Annual Operation Plan (AOP). The meeting, held in Awka, brought together participants from the State Ministry of Health, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Health Insurance, Civil Society Organizations, and various health partners.
During the meeting, Commissioner for Health Dr. Afam Obidike emphasized the importance of aligning everyone towards common goals to ensure the ministry’s objectives and priorities are understood and achieved. He noted that this review would facilitate optimal resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management. Reflecting on past performances, Dr. Obidike highlighted their determination to set new ambitions and achieve more goals.
Dr. Obidike also praised UNICEF for its continuous support in improving the state’s healthcare system and assured the public of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to enhancing healthcare in Anambra.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, commended the participants for their contributions and urged them to increase their efforts to further improve the state’s healthcare.
Earlier, Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu, Head of the Planning Department, Research and Statistics at the Anambra State Ministry of Health, explained that the meeting provided an opportunity to review the 2023 AOP and evaluate activities from the first quarter of 2024. She expressed the state government’s gratitude to UNICEF for their support.
