Anambra State Appoints Ex-Tennis Star Tania Okpala as Special Assistant on Social Works

The Anambra State Government has officially appointed former tennis star Tania Okpala as Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Works. Ms. Okpala received her appointment letter today from the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Enerst Ezeajughi, at his office in Awka.

This appointment follows Ms. Okpala’s successful rehabilitation and subsequent formal handover to her family. During that event, the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, announced the state government’s decision to offer Ms. Okpala the position to support her education and upkeep.

In her new role, Ms. Okpala will collaborate closely with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare. She is expected to leverage her personal experiences to educate and inspire young people, engaging in social education, counseling, and various activities aimed at guiding the youth.

The appointment, effective from June 1, 2024, will last for the duration of the current administration. Mrs. Soludo has congratulated Ms. Okpala and urged her to serve the state with dedication.

In a phone call, Mrs. Soludo encouraged Ms. Okpala to undertake her new responsibilities with commitment and to use her life story to assist others seeking direction.
