The Anambra State Government has officially launched the dualization of the Nwagu Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija Road, which includes a 370-meter spur and a three-span bridge across the Ulasi River.
The handover ceremony was conducted at Nwagu Agulu, where Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, represented by the Director of Highways, Engr. Noel Okoye, outlined the details of the project. The initial phase, Lot 1, covering an 18.6km stretch from Nwagu Agulu to Nnobi-Nnewi, has a projected completion time of 12 months. Engr. Okoma urged the contractor, Lebtech Construction Company, to adhere strictly to the project timeline and specifications.
At Nkwo Triangle in Nnewi, the commissioner described Lot 2, a 16.51km road dualization from Nnewi to Ozubulu-Okija, awarded to Ferotex Construction Ltd. This phase, including the bridge over Ulasi River, is expected to be completed within 15 months.
Engr. Okoma commended Governor Soludo for investing in these “legacy projects” that are designed to benefit Anambra residents well beyond his administration. He reminded contractors of the government’s adherence to a strict timeline, emphasizing that timely completion is crucial.
In response, Engr. Rony Melec, Managing Director of Lebtech Construction Ltd, and Engr. Segun Ola, Project Engineer for Ferotex Construction, both expressed appreciation to the governor for entrusting their companies with the project. They pledged to complete the work on schedule and to meet the high standards required.
