The Anambra State Government, through its Ministry of Youth Development, has stepped up its monitoring and implementation of the ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ Entrepreneurship Scheme, targeting master trainers and trainees in the Umuboi Batch A, Streams One and Two. The initiative, themed “Raising Smart Entrepreneurs,” is designed to empower young people with practical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge to drive economic growth in the state.
During a recent inspection tour of Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (EDIs) across Awka South, Dunukofia, and Njikoka Local Government Areas, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, encouraged participants to maximize the opportunities provided by the scheme. He highlighted Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, describing the initiative as a transformative platform for equipping young people with the tools to succeed in business.
Mr. Agha Mba also revealed plans to expand the program, announcing that the third phase will kick off in the coming months, with a target of training an additional 20,000 youths. This expansion underscores the state government’s dedication to fostering a new generation of skilled entrepreneurs who can contribute to the state’s economic development.
The Commissioner praised the collaborative efforts of UNIZIK Business School, a key partner in the scheme, and commended the program supervisors for their hard work and dedication. He emphasized the importance of the one-month training session, which is being closely monitored to ensure active participation and commitment from all trainees. Attendance is being meticulously recorded to maintain accountability and engagement.
The ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ initiative reflects the Anambra State Government’s broader vision of creating a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that empowers youths to become self-reliant and economically productive. By equipping young people with diverse skills, the program aims to reduce unemployment, stimulate innovation, and drive sustainable development across the state.
