Anambra State Commissioner for Information Dr. Law Mefor Champions Upcoming Innovation Week to Empower Youth with Digital Skills

In preparation for Anambra State’s upcoming Innovation Week, Dr. Law Mefor, the Commissioner for Information, visited the Innovation Solution District at Government House, Awka, to endorse the event and mobilize youth participation. During discussions with Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Dr. Mefor praised the initiative, stressing its importance in equipping Anambra’s youth with essential digital skills for employment and economic advancement.

The commissioner affirmed his ministry’s commitment to supporting the project by raising awareness and engaging local leaders, including church leaders, chieftaincy councils, and community representatives, to encourage widespread youth participation.

Chinwe Okoli highlighted that the Innovation/Tech Week, commencing on November 25, will convene tech innovators and communities from across the globe to discuss the future of ICT and digitization. A centerpiece of the event will be a competition with a N1 million prize for the winner, aiming to inspire creativity and drive in the tech space.

Mr. Ikechukwu Anajemba, a tech expert, outlined the event’s activities, which include training in digital learning, productivity tools, graphic design, website development, and coding. He urged the youth of Anambra to seize this opportunity provided by the state government, emphasizing the potential impact of these skills on entrepreneurial and startup growth in the region.
