On Monday, October 14, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, paid a visit to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, at the Government House in Awka. The meeting was aimed at solidifying plans for a series of town hall tours across the state’s 21 local government areas to showcase the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
During the visit, Dr. Mefor emphasized the importance of the proposed town hall tours as a strategic move to communicate the governor’s accomplishments directly to the people. He stated that the town hall meetings would provide a platform for key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, women, and youth representatives, to engage with the government, offer feedback, and express their appreciation for the governor’s developmental strides.
“The town hall meetings will bring together various local stakeholders to not only highlight the governor’s achievements but also gather valuable feedback on what has been done and what more needs to be accomplished,” Mefor said. He also revealed that the Ministry of Information had already established a committee for the tours and called on the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to do the same, ensuring a collaborative effort.
Hon. Nwabunwanne welcomed the initiative and expressed his readiness to support the project. He praised Dr. Mefor for his proactive approach and promised that his ministry would work closely with the Ministry of Information to ensure the success of the town hall tours.
“I’m fully on board with this idea. It’s all about delivering the Soludo solution to the people. We’ll put together a team to collaborate with yours and establish a timetable for the tours,” Nwabunwanne assured.
The town hall tours are expected to foster greater communication between the state government and local communities, highlighting Governor Soludo’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of Anambra residents.
