The Anambra State Government has refuted a false report circulating on social media, which claims that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, recently dismissed an aide for leaking a video of him participating in the viral “gwo gwo” dance challenge.
In an official statement, the government clarified that no aide had been fired in connection to the dance video. The only person involved in recent staffing changes was merely redeployed as part of a routine government reshuffle.
The “gwo gwo” dance video, which was recorded after Governor Soludo’s press briefing on the 33rd anniversary of Anambra State, was a spontaneous and lighthearted moment that has been well-received by the public, particularly Nigerian youths. Far from being an issue of embarrassment, the governor’s participation in the challenge has been praised for demonstrating his relatability and connection with the people.
The video gained significant attention, even being featured on national TV stations like Arise TV and TVC, which commended the governor’s human touch.
The government condemned the false reports, attributing them to malicious individuals attempting to tarnish the governor’s reputation and distract from his ongoing efforts to develop Anambra State. The statement urged those behind such misinformation to stop their attempts to spread falsehoods.
The Anambra State Government reiterated its commitment to providing accurate information to the public and warned that it would take appropriate measures against those who intentionally spread false reports.
