The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, has reaffirmed the Anambra State government’s commitment to harnessing the potential of the creative industry to position the state as a major tourism destination. Speaking during a courtesy visit from the executive members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Anambra State Chapter, Mr. Onyenji noted that ongoing projects such as Solution Fun City and Agulu Lake Resorts underline the government’s dedication to transforming Anambra into a tourism hub.

Highlighting the creative industry’s global impact as a major source of employment, the Commissioner underscored the important role of filmmakers in promoting the Igbo cultural heritage. “The message we pass through films is critical,” he said, “We must use film to market our state, promote our core values, and showcase our culture to the world. This government recognizes your contributions by including well-known faces in its administration.”

Mr. Onyenji congratulated the newly elected AGN executives and urged them to use their films to spotlight the developmental achievements across various sectors in Anambra.

In her response, the State Chairman of AGN, Mrs. Anyaegbunam Chinyelu, expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the state’s ongoing developments and thanked Mr. Onyenji for the warm reception. She noted that the AGN executive’s visit was to introduce the new leadership and express interest in supporting the Ministry’s projects. Mrs. Chinyelu also appealed for government assistance in areas such as accommodation and logistics, emphasizing the need for strong support similar to what their counterparts in other states receive to strengthen Anambra’s filmmaking hub.
