In a bid to enhance operational efficiency within the civil service, Anambra State Government has convened a two-day capacity building workshop for the 18 recently appointed Permanent Secretaries.
Themed “Strategic Leadership: Thriving Through Challenges and Opportunities in Governance,” the workshop aims to equip the new appointees with the necessary skills for effective leadership and service delivery.
The event was inaugurated by Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Head of Service of Anambra State, who expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the appointments. Addressing the attendees, Barrister Igwegbe emphasized the significance of teamwork among Permanent Secretaries, Commissioners, and other stakeholders, urging them to align their actions with the vision and objectives of the Soludo administration.
During her lecture on “The Leader’s Roadmap,” Barrister Igwegbe highlighted the importance of performance management, advocating for a balance between incentivizing positive behavior and sanctioning misconduct. She stressed the necessity of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
Drawing from her own experience as Deputy Clerk of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Barrister Igwegbe shared anecdotes to inspire the participants, underscoring the value of time, skills, and leadership in public service. She urged the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries to lead by example in their respective spheres of influence.
