Anambra State Government Installs Free WiFi in Offices to Boost Smart City Agenda

The Anambra State Government has installed free WiFi across its offices as part of efforts to advance its technology-driven smart city agenda. The new system, which provides unlimited internet access to workers at the state secretariat, ensures seamless connectivity around the clock.

The WiFi installation operates independently of the often unreliable power supply from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), as it is powered by an installed solar energy system. This allows workers to remain connected and productive without interruptions.

Speaking on the development, Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, expressed his delight at the improved efficiency brought by the initiative. “The installation of this system has greatly enhanced our speed and efficiency in handling official matters,” he said, noting that employees are now more enthusiastic about their jobs and eager to achieve new milestones.

Ojeyinka praised the state government and Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the forward-thinking move, which aligns with the administration’s goal of transforming Anambra into a smart city. “This proves the governor’s commitment to making technology available everywhere in the state, just as seen in developed economies,” he added.

Civil servant James Nsionu also expressed his gratitude, stating that the availability of free WiFi and constant power has revolutionized the way work is done. “I can now complete my tasks efficiently without worrying about internet access or electricity,” Nsionu said, thanking the government and the Head of Service, Lady Okwy Igwegbe, for their dedication to ensuring civil servants have the tools they need for productivity.

The initiative has been hailed as a major step in modernizing the state’s infrastructure, with many employees welcoming the government’s commitment to improving the working environment and promoting digital accessibility.
