The Anambra State Government is set to implement a world-class training program aimed at equipping youths with essential skills in the oil and gas sector. Barrister Anthony Ifeanya, the Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced this initiative after meeting with a delegation from a technology institute in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, which is seeking a partnership with the state.
Commissioner Ifeanya emphasized that this initiative aligns with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s “1 Youth, 2 Skills” program, which aims to empower young people in Anambra. The training will focus on developing skilled technicians and oil and gas workers across various specialties to fulfill the ministry’s commitment to job creation.
Upon completion of the training, participants are expected to gain comprehensive technical knowledge in the oil and gas industry, positioning them for employment opportunities both within Nigeria and abroad.
Engineer Tom Unyime, the leader of the visiting team, highlighted the importance of technology transfer and human capital development in accordance with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) policies. He stressed that, as Anambra joins the ranks of oil-producing states in Nigeria, training youths in oil and gas skills is crucial to reducing youth restiveness and keeping them engaged in productive activities.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of the institute’s informational flyers and booklets to Commissioner Ifeanya, along with a detailed slideshow showcasing the training program’s objectives and benefits.
