Anambra State Government Monitors Progress of 1 Youth 2 Skills Solution Program in Awka South

The Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development recently visited 30 training centers in Awka South Local Government Area to monitor the progress of the second phase of the *1 Youth 2 Skills Solution* Program. The centers visited included those focused on fashion design, confectionery, beauty care, catering, and aluminum fabrication, among others.

Led by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, the monitoring exercise aimed to ensure the smooth implementation of the program across the state. Mr. Agha Mba emphasized that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for the program is to create a sustainable business ecosystem for the youth, thereby reducing unemployment and enhancing security.

The *1 Youth 2 Skills Solution* Program is a community-based initiative comprising five stages: Apprenticeship/Vocational Skills Training, Entrepreneurship, Cooperative Formation, Business Financing, and a One-Year Mentorship Scheme. Out of the 220,000 youths who applied, 10,000 were selected for the training. The commissioner urged participants to approach the program with seriousness, noting that it is designed to provide them with the strategic tools needed to succeed as business owners in the future.

Trainees, including Emenike Chinwe from Awka and Chukwu Chioma from Enugu, expressed gratitude to the state government for the opportunity and promised to apply the skills they are acquiring for the betterment of their communities.
