The Anambra State Government has reiterated its commitment to promoting food security initiatives for a sustainable future. During a press briefing in honor of World Food Day, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor, highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in achieving economic prosperity and improved well-being for the people of Anambra.
“Food security is not just about availability but also about nutrition, safety, access, utilization, and stability,” Dr. Ihejiofor explained, emphasizing the state’s dedication to building sustainable agricultural systems that shape Anambra’s social and economic landscape.
Permanent Secretary Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka urged residents to make efficient use of their agricultural land, no matter how small, to support the state’s *Farm to Feed* initiative. “Everyone should farm their portion of land,” she said, underscoring the need for active participation in food production.
This year’s World Food Day theme, *”Food for Better Life and Better Future,”* reflects the global effort to promote sustainable food systems and combat hunger, which currently affects over 733 million people worldwide.
