The Anambra State Government has issued a strong rebuttal against recent claims of abduction and rape purportedly occurring in Ukwulu, a community within Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released, the government highlighted a concerning trend of false narratives, driven by political motives, aimed at destabilizing the peace and security enjoyed by the people of Anambra State.

The alleged incident, widely circulated on various online platforms and directed at Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, was thoroughly investigated and found to lack credibility and factual basis. It was evidently fabricated to sow seeds of insecurity within our state.

The supposed victim’s account, lacking in authentication and coherence, alleged abduction by Fulani herders near Abba Junction in Ukwulu, where she claimed to have endured days of captivity and assault before being released upon ransom payment. However, the traditional ruler of Ukwulu, Igwe Peter Anukwu Uyanwa, has vehemently denied such occurrences within his community.

Furthermore, the Anambra State Police Command, represented by its Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed no record of such an incident being reported or verified.

The absence of credible evidence, coupled with denials from authoritative sources, underscores the malicious intent behind this concocted story, orchestrated to tarnish the state’s image and instill unwarranted fear among the populace.

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo reaffirms the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, residents, and visitors within Anambra State. He urges the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and baseless allegations, emphasizing the importance of relying on verified sources of information.

The government encourages the public to report security-related concerns and provide information to security agencies through designated channels, including the following hotlines: 07039194332, 08039334002, and 07039896429.

In conclusion, the Anambra State Government reassures its dedication to upholding the rule of law and fostering a peaceful, secure, and prosperous environment for all residents.
