The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved a series of transformative infrastructure and educational projects aimed at boosting connectivity, combating erosion, and enhancing learning facilities across the state. These decisions were made during the 36th ANSEC meeting, which also celebrated the Supreme Court ruling that confirmed Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa as the legitimate National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The council approved over N40 billion in road construction and rehabilitation projects designed to improve transportation and tackle longstanding erosion challenges:
1. **Trans-Nkisi Boulevard 1 Road, GRA Onitsha**: Approved for N2.1 billion, to be executed by Paul-B Nig Ltd, with a six-month completion timeline.
2. **Nanka-Aguluzigbo-Umuona Road**: A 9 km road prone to erosion, awarded to IDC Construction Company for N7.5 billion, to be completed in 12 months.
3. **Mbaukwu-Awgbu-Amaetiti-Okpaeze Road**: A 16.37 km route with a bridge, awarded to Cossel Construction Ltd for N10.95 billion, expected in 18 months.
4. **Azigbo-Awka Etiti-Amichi-Onuselogu Road**: Spanning three local governments, awarded to Akaeze Multiservices Nig Ltd for N2.6 billion, with an 8-month timeline.
5. **Igboukwu-Amichi-Ekwulummili Road**: A 3.57 km road, awarded to Nevclinton Nig Ltd for N2.355 billion, to be completed in 6 months.
6. **Nteje-Otuocha Road**: Awarded for N668.6 million to MacDamanox Construction Company.
7. **Awkuzu-Igbariam-Anaku Link Road**: A 19.1 km route, awarded to Retro Construction Company Ltd for N6.175 billion, to be completed in 18 months.
8. **Omagba Seven Roads, Onitsha**: A strategic 2 km network, awarded to Bekks International Company for N1.228 billion, with a 6-month timeline.
9. **New Market Road, Onitsha**: Reconstruction awarded to Boorman Engineering Company Ltd for N1.3 billion, to be completed in 3 months.
10. **Aguleri Uno-Aguleri Otu Road**: A critical access route awarded to Tamad Construction for N8.3 billion, to be completed in 18 months.
ANSEC also approved the construction of 22 Smart Schools across all 21 local government areas to transform the state’s education landscape. Valued at N13.5 billion, the project includes:
– ICT equipment supply by Bonitas Technologies (N1.3 billion, 4 months).
– Solar power installations by Log-Electrik Ltd (N775 million, 4 months).
– School equipment supply by Alien Core Edge Ltd (N4.46 billion, 4 months).
– Civil works and water facilities by a consortium of 22 vendors (N6.97 billion, 2 months).
These schools will serve as models of secondary education, equipping students with skills for the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Other Projects and Announcements
– The government awarded a N197.5 million contract for supplying and installing equipment at the Anambra State College of Health Technology, Obosi.
– A fresh tender was invited for the installation of solar-powered streetlights in Awka metropolis, with interested vendors advised to contact the Ministry of Power and Water Resources for specifications.
