Anambra State House Of Assembly Certifies Pace, Quality Of Work On Okpoko Road Projects

Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed satisfaction with the quality of road construction work at Nwokedi and Edmund Street and urge the contractor to ensure speedy delivery of the project.

The Anambra House Committee Chairman on Works and Infrastructure, Hon Emmanuel Nwafor, made the commendation in company of other members of the committee during an inspection tour of ongoing road construction projects in Okpoko.

The Nwokedi and Edmund Street road projects when completed is expected to extend to 1,2, 3 and 4 in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Speaking shortly after the inspection, the Committee Chairman and member representing Orumba South Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emma Nwafor while stating the aim of the visit to assess the progress of work and ensure strict compliance of contractors to project’s specifications.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and standard of materials used, especially in the construction of the drainage system, which plays essential role in the effective management of floodwaters in the area and affirmed that upon completion, the road will effectively contain flood-related issues in the area.

Hon. Nwafor further extolled Soludo for providing lasting solution and relief to the community on flood-related stress and charge the people to take ownership of the project by conducting individual inspection to spur the contractors to deliver swiftly.

For the Project Manager, Akaeze Constructions Nig. Ltd, Engineer Austin Ezeadi, the 3.5 kilometer road which is currently at the desilting and drainage structure casting stage will be completed in less than five months and noted that the drainage work will effectively combat flooding menace in the area.

He highlighted several challenges affecting the pace of completing the project, including the after effects of heavy rainfall and uncontrollable discharge of domestic wastewater from residential buildings into the major drain under construction and assured that the challenges are under control.

Engineer Ezeadi further assured delivering the project in time and according to standard.
