The Anambra State Government has launched a state-wide initiative to install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras across all markets in the region.
The project officially commenced at the New Auto Spare Parts Market in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
In an interview with ABS, the project contractor, Engineer Bobfrancis Chukwugozie, emphasized that the initiative aims to reduce the frequent incidents of break-ins and various criminal activities in the markets.
Chukwugozie mentioned that the New Auto Parts Market, Nkpor, was selected as the starting point due to its level of organization. He assured that the installation across all markets would be completed within a month.
The market’s chairman, Chief Stephen Oforleh, praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his commitment to enhancing security in the state and expressed gratitude for the significant initiative.
Chief Oforleh also extended his thanks to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trades and Markets, Chief Evaristus Uba, and the President General of the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders’ Association (ASMATA), Chief Humphrey Anuna, for their roles in bringing the project to fruition.
