The Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbaukwu, has organized a Sports Day for its staff as part of efforts to encourage a healthy lifestyle, teamwork, and workplace conviviality.
The event, which featured activities such as a 100-meter race, egg and sack race, tug of war, football, and a blindfold competition, was the second edition of the competition inspired by the healthy living campaign of the Anambra State First Lady, Mrs. Nonye Soludo.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Rector, Dr. Njideka Chikezie, emphasized the importance of physical activities in fostering unity among staff and enhancing productivity.
The Polytechnic’s Sports Director and Organizing Chairman, Mr. Emeka Illouno, commended the management for supporting the initiative and highlighted the role of staff participation in ensuring its success.
Public Relations Officer Dr. Ekene Nwankwo and Acting Librarian Clifford Nwogwugwu noted that the Acting Rector prioritizes work-life balance, which contributes to overall staff well-being and efficiency.
In the football match, the teaching staff defeated their non-teaching counterparts 1-0, while the School of Agriculture won the march-past competition. The event concluded with a prize and trophy presentation.
