Anambra State Targets Digital Transformation, Says ICT Agency Head

The Managing Director of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Fred Agbata, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to driving the state toward comprehensive digital transformation and enhancing e-governance capabilities.

Speaking during a meeting with the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Information at the Government House in Awka, Mr. Agbata detailed the state’s advancements in digital infrastructure. He highlighted the removal of the Right of Way (RoW) charges by Governor Soludo, a move that has attracted infrastructure companies to collaborate with the state, resulting in significant improvements.

Mr. Agbata also emphasized ongoing efforts to expand broadband access, noting a partnership with a provider to deploy internet services within the Secretariat. This service has been extended to public areas, including Aroma, Eke Awka, Ifite, and the Book Foundation.

He expressed gratitude to the committee for their visit, stressing the importance of collaboration between the legislative and executive branches in advancing technological progress and ensuring effective governance in Anambra State. He assured that the agency would continue to support Governor Soludo’s initiative of integrating technology into all aspects of governance.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Fred Ezenwa, who represents Onitsha South 1 Constituency, stated that the purpose of the visit was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the agency’s operations, address any challenges, and identify ways to achieve better results within the legal framework.

Other committee members in attendance included Hon. Jude Akpua (Njikoka II Constituency), Hon. Justice Azuka (Onitsha North 1 Constituency), and Hon. Patrick Udoba (Anambra West Constituency).
