The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, has officially launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in Awka. The flag-off ceremony took place during the ongoing *Unite Conference* in the state capital.
Supported by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme, this year’s event is themed *”Unite to End Gender-Based Violence in Anambra State.”* The campaign seeks to raise awareness, strengthen actions to combat gender-based violence (GBV), and establish Anambra as a leader in promoting gender equity and human rights in Nigeria.
The *Unite Conference* serves as a collaborative platform for stakeholders to consolidate efforts in eradicating GBV, advancing gender equality, and fostering a safer, more inclusive society. The event highlights the state government’s commitment to addressing gender-related issues and protecting vulnerable populations across Anambra.
The 16 Days of Activism campaign is a global initiative held annually to inspire and mobilize action against GBV. In Anambra State, the campaign reinforces the ongoing drive toward building a fair and just society where every individual can thrive without fear of violence or discrimination.
