The Anambra State Women Association of Southern California, a United States-based non-governmental organization, has donated medical equipment worth over ₦30 million to six local government areas in Anambra State.
The donation, aimed at boosting healthcare delivery in rural communities, was presented at Edorji Primary Health Centre in Nnewi North Local Government Area. Speaking at the event, the association’s president, Mrs. Nne-Nne Bosah, explained that the initiative is part of their community development program and was entirely self-funded, with no financial assistance from any government agency.
Mrs. Bosah noted that while they supported four local government areas last year, they expanded their reach to six this year to further enhance the capacity of primary healthcare centers, which are critical to rural populations.
Pharmacist Chisom Uchem, Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, praised the association for their generosity and noted that their efforts align with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s *Aku Luo Uno* campaign, which encourages Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to invest in their homeland. She highlighted the Governor’s strides in the health sector, including free antenatal and delivery services, a milestone she described as unprecedented in Nigeria.
Chief Godwin Ndubuizu, the Obi of Edorji, expressed gratitude for the donation, describing the association as a shining example of selfless service and praying for their continued success.
The donated items, which include hospital beds, delivery couches, and medical strips, were officially handed over to the benefiting primary health centers by Mrs. Bosah and members of the association. The event marked another milestone in the association’s mission to improve healthcare access for rural communities in Anambra State.
