The Igbo Youths for Positive Change has commended the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his fight against criminal elements in the state.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, the National President of the group, Chinedu Obigwe, said the governor was fighting a “justified war” against the hoodlums masquerading as “unknown gunmen” in the state.
Obigwe pointed out that Soludo was matching his words with action and it was commendable. According to him, the governor had already told all armed groups terrorising the state to surrender their weapons and come out of the bush.
He said that the pleas by the governor for the criminals to change from their evil ways fell on dead ears, adding that he had no choice but to start dealing with them according to the law.
He said, “When the governor told all armed groups terrosing Anambra to surrender their weapons, come out of the bush and change from their evil ways, they refused to heed his wise counsel and instead continued terrosing ndi Anambra.
“It is said that the fly that refuses to hear follows the corpse to the grave. This is exactly what is happening to the terrorists masquerading to be ‘unknown gunmen’ in Anambra.
“Soludo gave ndi Anambra the assurance that the ‘Egyptians’ they see today, they shall see them no more.
“From Ukpor in Nnewi South to Orsomoghu, Lilu in Ihiala to Ogbaru to Aguata and all the communities in our state places being used by the gunmen as their hideouts are no longer safe for them.
The operation launched against them on the directive of our beloved governor is yielding fruitful results.”
The group stressed that the hoodlums were now paying the price of the heinous crime they committed against the state, adding that the war against them was not stopping anytime soon as the “governor had vowed to ensure that nobody among them is spared.”
The statement further, “Soludo knows very well that security is the bedrock of sustainable development, hence his reason for vowing to tackle the terrorists masquerading to be ‘unknown gunmen’.
“For weeks now, we have stopped hearing about killings by ‘unknown gunmen’ in Anambra, rather what we are hearing is how the heartless ‘unknown gunmen’ are now paying for their crimes.
“The mission of Soludo is to turn Anambra into a liveable and prosperous homeland and nothing will stop him from actualising this mission. He always tells us that his reason for not complaining about the challenges confronting our state is because he applied for the job and we deemed it necessary to employ him.
“As far as he is concerned, ndi Anambra employed him to bring whatever challenges facing them to an end and that is what we are witnessing in our state under his watch. He is tackling all the challenges confronting our state simultaneously.”
Recently, an outbreak of the dreaded Monkeypox disease was reported in our state, but the governor, through the ministry of health, arrested the situation. He is also touching all sectors of governance and promised ndi Anambra that immediately after the rain, he will start the construction work on 220km of roads spread across the state.
“He is justifying the confidence reposed on him by Anambra electorates in such a way that they are not regretting voting for him.
“To God be the glory that the menace of the ‘unknown gunmen’ in Anambra is coming to an end.”
