Anambra Youths Encouraged to Explore Traditional Wrestling for Income and Fame

Anambra youths have been urged to embrace traditional wrestling and other indigenous sports as alternative sources of income, fame, and cultural pride. This call was made by **Priest Noble Chibueze Mmuonapuapu**, High Priest of Holy Sabbath of Christ the Lord Yahweh Synagogue, during the burial of his mother, **Ezinne Anthonia Ogonna Onwusika**, in Isu Ebii village, Oba, Idemili South LGA.

Highlighting the uniqueness of Igbo wrestling, Priest Chibueze noted that it showcases authentic strength, skill, and dexterity, unlike scripted professional wrestling. He emphasized that promoting local sports like **Mgba Azueluani** (traditional wrestling) and **Ikwu Ugba** (gymnastics) can boost tourism, create job opportunities, and provide an alternative income source for unemployed youths. The event featured wrestling bouts, with champions like **Okwuchukwu Okeke Okamgba (Ijele)** challenging spectators, further encouraging the youth to recognize the economic and cultural value of traditional sports.

The ceremony celebrated the life of **Ezinne Anthonia**, remembered as a virtuous and hospitable mother of seven who impacted her family and community positively. Tributes poured in from her children, relatives, and dignitaries, including members of the **Soludo Volunteer Force (SVF)**, who supported **Comrade Solomon Onwusika**, the deceased’s son and SVF National Secretary. Notable attendees included Hon. Mike Ozoemena, Prof. Arthur Anyabolu, and gospel artist **Gozie Okeke**, who thrilled the audience.

Priest Chibueze called on both the government and private individuals to invest in traditional sports as a means of preserving culture, promoting tourism, and fostering economic growth. The event highlighted the enduring value of Igbo traditions and the potential of cultural heritage in modern economic contexts.
