The Anambra State Branch of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility by donating wheelchairs to Chinua Achebe International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, and Saint Faith Hospital and Maternity, Awka.
The initiative, which is part of ANAN’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, was led by the National President, Dr. James Neminebor, along with the immediate past national president, Reverend Canon Professor Ben Osisioma, and the state branch chairman, Mrs. Nkechi Ofoedu. Other senior members of the association were also present to deliver the donations.
Dr. Neminebor highlighted that the program reflects ANAN’s commitment to societal and environmental accounting, emphasizing that accountants play roles beyond financial services by promoting sustainability. He expressed confidence that the beneficiaries would make good use of the wheelchairs to serve humanity and enhance the association’s visibility.
Professor Osisioma, the immediate past president, described the donation as a way to connect with the local community, stating that touching lives through such gestures ultimately touches humanity.
Dr. Fasua Kayode, the Chief Executive Officer of ANAN, provided a brief overview of the organization’s history and its global impact. He noted that ANAN is a key player in the International Federation of Accounting and stands out globally as the only professional body with a residential college, a university, and an annual CSR day.
The Managing Director of Chinua Achebe International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Mr. Martin Nwafor, and the Vicar-in-Charge of Saint Faith Hospital and Maternity, Venerable Cosmos Diugwu, expressed deep gratitude for the donations. They noted that the wheelchairs would enhance the quality of services offered to customers and patients with physical challenges, describing the gesture as a divine intervention.
The event concluded with the presentation of the wheelchairs to the respective institutions and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
